Naoki Okamoto
Artist/Atelier 99
I started to work on this project around 1993 and finished in 2005. In 2000, Some of images from this work have been published in the art magazine in Japan.
For this site, I divided them into two groups but it was basically one project.
I took subjective approach to the things in order to input feelings and emotions in the images.
I planned to shoot all in Europe as I got the inspiration from the classical musics I love, the musics that originate in Europe. For me,the musics have been one of the important source for the inspirations.
I made a short trip to Paris but for a financial reason I had to shoot mostly in my neighborhood but again,I was not interest in at all depicting about New York.
Cameras; Rolleiflex 75mm 3.5 Hasselblad 500CM with customized lenses.
* Some of you might think that these are HOLGA shots but they are not. Its fixed set of f8/f11 and 1/100 shutter speed could not work for me as I worked in mostly rainy or dark days. I had to shoot with f2.8 or f4 with slower shutter speeds.
